This Week at Christ Church
Sunday, Oct. 13 is the last day to order pies! There are order forms on the table in the parish hall underneath the bulletin board. Pies are $17 (except for the pumpkin, blueberry, and peach pies, which are $18). Cookie dough is $18. Make checks out to Christ Church and put in the envelope provided. They will be delivered on 11/23 just in time for Thanksgiving. All money goes toward our mission projects so this is a win- win situation! For more information, contact Ann Crocker at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you.
Rise Against Hunger Annual Meal Processing Event - Saturday, October 19 at St. Matthews Episcopal Church, Wilton —Click on the following link to sign up for a two hour shift. You can choose your shift as long as space is available. Sign up early to get the space you want. https://signup.com/go/DgwPRzi. Save the Date – next Saturday, Oct. 19 - Fall Building Spruce Up Morning hope you'll be able to join the Property Committee for an hour or so between 8 am and noon for the church's annual Fall Spruce-Up. We have close to 50 tasks to be done, from removing air-conditioners, installing storm windows, to dusting and polishing in the sanctuary and cleaning in the kitchen. Many hands make light work so I do hope you will be able to come and help. A task list will be posted on the easel for members to select tasks they would like to do. Breakfast and coffee will be provided. Thanks, and hope to see you on Saturday morning.
Jazz & Musings will be held next Sunday, October 20 at 7pm. The Weather in Song is the theme for a program of classic jazz standards by Harold Arlen, Johnny Burke, George Gershwin, Jimmy McHugh, and James Van Heusen introduced by short humorous and/or serious readings. A Foggy Day, Stormy Weather, On a Clear Day, Here's That Rainy Day, Come Rain or Come Shine, On the Sunny Side of the Street will feature Leigh Henry, Vocals and Bongos; Dave Savitsky, Alto Saxophone; Martha Meyer, Keyboard; Matt Dwonszyk, Acoustic Bass; Jim Royle, Percussion. A reception hosted by the Altar Guild follows the hour program. The public is invited, free admission but suggested donation $15 for adults to support the music program.
Kairos update from David Pople— There's another Men's Kairos Weekend coming up soon at MacDougall Men's Prison in Suffield, October 24-27. I wanted to be on team for this one too, but my other current obligations made it clear to me that this was not the right time for me to be directly involved on the "inside" team. But the Kairos Ministry is up and in the midst of preparing a team to go inside anyway this month, so it's as important that you and I offer our outside support as much as we can. I'll have a packet of Prayer Hands forms as I've done before, so that as many of you as I can persuade to sign up to pray for this Kairos will be able to do so. I will have them with me (or available if I'm working elsewhere) on the October Sundays previous to the Weekend. Look for me with my Prayer Hands handouts. I'll be looking for you too. With Freedom in Christ, David
The Dorothy Day ministry needs a few more volunteers willing to deliver the once a month meal ingredients on the first Thursday of each month around noontime. Please let Sue Pople know if you might be able to help at 203-748-2089 or at email@example.com. Thank you.

Almighty God, giver of every good gift: look graciously on your Church and so guide the minds of those who shall call a rector for this parish, that we may receive a faithful pastor who will care for your people and equip us for our ministries; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen (from the Book of Common Prayer, p. 818).
