Marilyn Anderson, Rector
Marilyn has been rector at Christ Church for ten years. She and her husband Barry love living in the Redding woods. They have two adult daughters in New York and Toronto.
Marilyn graduated from the College of William and Mary in Virginia and holds a Master's degree in geological sciences from the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she studied the chemistry of ocean island lavas from the Azores.
When her kids were in elementary school Marilyn attended Yale University's Divinity School and graduated with a Master of Divinity degree magna cum laude. Later she studied spiritual direction at the General Seminary of the Episcopal Church in New York City, where she was awarded a Master of Sacred Theology degree.
Martha Meyer, Music Minister
Martha Jeppesen Meyer began piano lessons at age 4, and she continued piano study at Smith College with Solon Robinson and later with private teachers Burton Hathaway (classics), and John and Gay Mehegan (jazz). Martha has studied organ with Berkeley Peabody, Edwin Taylor and Robert Kwan.
Based on her English major degree from Smith, she taught for 12 years at Bridgeport Engineering Institute, while her original musical plays for children were performed at the Downtown Cabaret Theater of Bridgeport where she was a Music Director.
Martha has supplied background piano music at area country clubs, the Mayflower Inn, the IBM Conference Center, and various other venues.
She came to Christ Church Parish in 2007 after 15 years as Music Director for the Unitarian Universalist Church of Greater Bridgeport where she founded the Revelation Jazz Ensemble. Her home since 1973 is in Redding, where her 4 children (3 daughters, 1 son) graduated from Joel Barlow High School.
She enjoys the freedom that Christ Church gives her to program a wide variety of music, and she is grateful for the dedication and talents of our Chancel Choir.
Meredith McClung, Director of Children's Ministries
Meredith McClung began her ministry in children's Christian education when she was 14: she had been caught reading a James Bond thriller behind her pew sheet during the sermon. Her father felt she needed to be allowed to participate more actively in church life and asked the Christian Education Director of St. Paul's, Riverside, Connecticut, if she could assist in the church school classroom. Between then and now she has spent 30 years in church school classrooms assisting, teaching, reorganizing and reinventing the approach to Christian Formation at Christ Church. Meredith earned a B.A. in developmental psychology from the University of New Hampshire. She and her very supportive husband Tim have two sons, ages 25 and 29. She continues to learn about what really matters from them and the children who enter her classroom.
Beth Cox, Parish Administrator
Beth came to Christ Church in January, 2011. She and her family have been active members of St. James' Church in Danbury since 2001. She earned her B.A. in Communications from Muhlenberg College, and her M.B.A. in Finance from Pace University. Her husband, Dan, is a Director of Compensation and Benefits. Her two children are 19 and 22. Beth's responsibilities include payroll; compiling Sunday bulletins, brochures, and financial reports; and tracking income, expenses and contributions. She is in the office from 9:15 till 2:00, Monday through Thursday during the program year.
